Reminder about COVID-19 prevention in VMU dormitories
To comply with coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention measures in the dormitory, students must comply with the following prevention measures:
- wash hands and use a hand sanitiser regularly;
- avoid touching face with hands;
- keep household clean and ventilated;
- cover the mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing;
- wear disposable gloves in the public areas of the dormitory (residents shall purchase them themselves);
- avoid direct physical contact and keep a safe distance from others, especially in the kitchen and other common areas;
- wear medical face masks in the public areas of the dormitory (residents shall purchase them themselves);
- keep an eye on your health condition and inform the dormitory management immediately if you feel any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing).

In dormitories installed new self-service laundry app
A new self-service laundry app has been installed in VMU dormitory No. 2 “Baltija” and dormitory No. 5, which will allow dormitory residents to take care of their laundry more conveniently, to pay with their card, and to select and monitor the laundry process on their smartphones.
By downloading and using the “Wash it by Primus” app, dormitory residents will be able to:
- know in real-time whether the washing machines are available or occupied;
- select and monitor their preferred washing or drying cycle;
- make credit/debit card payments.
To use the laundry app, residents will need to follow four steps:
- Download the “Wash it by Primus” app, available on the App store or Google play;
- Top up your virtual wallet balance;
- Select the washing machine or tumble dryer you want;
- Wash and dry.

Stand for Election to the VMU Dormitory‘s Council
Vytautas Magnus University has announced the election to the dormitory Council, which is organised in accordance to VMU Dormitory Self-government regulations.
If you are living in VMU dormitory No. 2 Vytauto pr. 71 (BALTIJA), Kaunas or No. 6 A. Vivulskio str. 36, Vilnius or No. 5 Univesiteto str. 8, Akademija, Kaunas dstr. and you are interested to become the Chairperson of Dormitory‘s Council then all you need to do is to fill this electronic application until 3rd of October, 2021 and to comply the following criteria:
- you have to study in Vytautas Magnus University
- you have to be motivated
- you have to make a one-year activities plan for the Council
- you have to have experience in social activities
- you have to have experience of living in the dormitory
- you cannot have penalties for infringements of the University internal legal acts
The Chairperson of the Dormitory Council is elected in three stages:
I stage – candidate applies for this position, by filling this questionnaire until October 3rd, 2021, 12 a.m. The selected candidates will be informed of the invitation to run for the election of the Chairperson of the Dormitory Council on 4th October.
II stage – candidates selected by the Students‘ Representative Council and the Student Affairs Department are invited to attend the meeting of Selection committee on 6th October at 13:30 p.m. (The format of the committee will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates)
III stage – if it will be necessary, candidate has to participate in Election of Dormitory Council’s Chairperson which will be held in the general meeting of residents of the dormitory.
Person who is interested to become the Chairperson of the Dormitory‘s Council together with the electronic application form has to submit following information:
- Personal data
- A letter of motivation
- To describe in a narrative form a one-year activities plan of Dormitory‘s council

Dormitory‘s Council and the Chairperson
We want to remind You, that the Chairperson has a right and power to form and manage Dormitory‘s council.
The elected chairperson of the dormitory will be exempted from payment of the accommodation fee for 2021/2022 academic year (from 1st of October 2021 until 30th of June 2022)
The main purpose of Dormitory‘s council is to help the Chairperson to implement following objectives:
- To represent the interests of the dormitory Residents in University‘s (dormitory‘s) administration
- To represent University (dormitory) requirements among residents
- To maintain the integrity of community
- To carry out social and cultural activities
- To mediate in cases of misunderstandings or problems between residents or residents and administration

Please be informed that due to the high demand of Vytautas Magnus University students for dormitory places, students of other higher education institutions (other than Vytautas Magnus University) who wish to stay in one of the dormitories offered by Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Academy (Kaunas district) or Vilnius will be able to do so no earlier than from Sat. 1 October.

Important information on the non-operation of VMU systems (2021.08.28)
Please be informed that this Saturday, 28 August (tentatively from 13:00 to 20:00), VMU will be carrying out electrical repair works. During this time, all VMU IT systems will be down, except Office 365 (including Outlook mail), which will only be accessible from an external, non-VMU network.
During the specified period will not work:
- Internet connection;
- The car park of the “Baltija” dormitory which use a number plate recognition system;
- Student Portal;
- the copying/printing system.

Conditions and Regulations for Students Arriving to the Dormitory (information updated 16.08.2021)
In order to ensure safety of the dormitory’s residents and staff members, for prevention and control of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University, residents of the dormitories and students who are planning to move into them are asked to pay close attention and follow rules set out below.
Higher-year students who are residents in one of the dormitories of VMU and who are planning their return to the dormitory, will be required to cover the costs of their self-isolation, testing for COVID-19 (if required), their meals, and other personal expenses by themselves. Self-isolation can be carried out only in specially designed rooms (except cases when a resident is living in a single bedroom with a separate bathroom).
All residents, who have already left Lithuania or are planning to travel for a short period, and intend to return to the dormitory must fill-out this form. This information is required in order to contribute to pandemic management and comply with all COVID-19 prevention requirements.
MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE TRAVELLING TO LITHUANIA
- COVID-19 testing is required from any arrival from any country of the world, with certain exemptions for those who have recovered of COVID-19 disease or have been fully vaccinated.
- A PCR test for COVID-19 must be taken within 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania, an antigen test must be taken within 48 hours before the entry. A negative test result will have to be shown to the carrier before boarding a plane, bus, ferry, etc.
- Arrivals from the green area will not be required to self-isolate, nor is self-isolation required from the arrivals from the orange (yellow) area, but they are required instead to take a second test on the 3-5th day of arrival in Lithuania. A test can be taken at a mobile point by registering on the website of the Hotline at www.1808.ltor short number 1808. Testing will not be required from those who have recovered of COVID-19 disease or have been fully vaccinated.
- Requirements for arrivals from the red area remain the same: a mandatory test taken prior to the entry to Lithuania and 10-day self-isolation.
- There is a possibility of shortening the self-isolation by taking a PCR test on the 7th day of self-isolation at the earliest, with a negative response thereof. Until now, such test had to be taken at the expense of the resident himself, but from Monday, it will be possible to do so free of charge at a mobile point. You will have to register on the website of the Hotline at www.1808.ltor at short number 1808.
- Passengers FROM ALL THE COUNTRIES (listed or not listed as affected) travelling on international routes organized and operated by carriers as regular, special and charter services by all modes of transport must complete a QUESTIONNAIRE 48 hours before the arrival and present the confirmation of the completed electronic form (QR code) to the carrier before boarding the vehicle.
- Those arriving in Lithuania from ALL COUNTRIES by their own transport until the moment of crossing the border of the Republic of Lithuania must fill in the QUESTIONNAIRE 48 hours before the arrival and provide confirmation of the completed electronic questionnaire (QR code) to NVSC specialists or other officials at the border checkpoint or passenger checkpoint.

MOVING INTO THE DORMITORY AND PAYMENT
MOVING INTO DORMITORY
When moving into dormitories No. 5, Universiteto g. 8, Kaunas district, Akademija, No. 2, “Baltija” (Vytauto pr. 71) and No. 6, located in Vilnius (A. Vivulskio g. 36), you will need to come directly to the dormitory, where the administrators will provide you with the room keys, dormitory access card and all the necessary information.
It is not necessary to move in within 3 working days, as the student’s residence is secure until 31 August. Students can only move into the dormitory after concluding their accommodation contract electronically.

PAYMENT
The accommodation fee starts from the date of move-in, and all accommodation-related fees (including the move-in fee) are payable from September onwards via the student portal, so there are no fees to pay at the time of move-in.
FOR NEW STUDENTS, MOVING INTO THE DORMITORIES FOR THE FIRST TIME
We kindly ask our students, who are moving into the dormitory for the first time, to be reasonable and socially responsible:
Before your departure to Lithuania:
- Send your travel tickets by the e-mail arrival@vdu.lt and fill-out the online arrival registration form at least one week before the arrival; and register at National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health by filling in an electronic form on https://keleiviams.nvsc.lt/en/form (not earlier than 48 hours before your arrival to Lithuania);
- Follow instructions of administrative staff members of Vytautas Magnus University;
Upon your arrival (moving), at the dormitory’s Administration you shall:
- when entering the building use the hand sanitizer at the entrance;
- check your body temperature;
- sincerely answer questions of the Administrator of Dormitory. Monitor the list of countries effected by coronavirus (COVID-19) regularly and inform dormitory’s administration immediately if you are returning from one them;
- present EU Digital Covid Certificate or other proof that you have been fully vaccinated with one of the COVID-19 vaccines (COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen, Comirnaty, COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna, and Vaxzevria), medical document which confirms that maximum 180 days have passed of the positive COVID-19 testing until arrival to the Republic of Lithuania. Otherwise, be prepared to self-isolate for 10 days.
- Isolate yourself in the dormitory room allocated by Vytautas Magnus University and follow mandatory conditions of self-isolation.
- follow recommendations for COVID-19 prevention in the dormitories of VMU (if you do not need to isolate yourself).
INFORMATION ON SELF-ISOLATION
- A 10-days self-isolation shall be performed in specially designed guest rooms (except cases when a resident is living in a single bedroom with a separate bathroom).
- Students who are travelling to Lithuania from the COVID-19 affected countries and are obliged to self-isolate, have to book a guest room on Student Self-service Portal http://studentas.vdu.lt> Dormitories > Accommodation in Guest Rooms, before their intended return (note, that number of rooms is limited and reservation shall be made as early as possible). Accommodation fees is calculated according to the type of room and a full list of room prices is available here (you need to check the prices for VMU students – Short Term Accommodation). If a student is reserving a not a single-bed room, the fee is calculated for an entire room (two places) with an exception if it is shared with another person, who is also returning from abroad.
NOTE: In case of a situation that there are not enough places for self-isolation in VMU dormitories, students may choose to perform their self-isolation in hotels or other private companies or institutions, that provide accommodation services.
- While travelling from the Airport to the dormitory, please use the Bolt app (taxi – protect) services (expenses shall by paid by the resident). Please note that you cannot use public transportation.

- While checking-in into the dormitory, it is necessary:
- to wear a nose and mouth covering mask in public, including when entering the dormitory;
- use hand sanitizer at the entrance;
- allow your body temperature to be checked;
- sincerely answer questions of the Dormitory’s administrator;
- follow the recommendations for the prevention of coronavirus (COVID-19).
- If you have a fever, are sick, or have any possible symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of sense of smell or taste, muscle pain, or headache), please immediately contact dormitory’s administrator.

It is recommended that students, who are currently living in the dormitory: do not gather in the dormitory; not organize activities or gatherings in rooms or in the common areas of the dormitory, such as kitchens, smoking rooms, reading rooms, etc. Meetings with friends are recommended in open spaces.

Application for Accommodation for New Incoming Students of 2021/2022
Vytautas Magnus University has opened an application for new incoming international students for accommodation in the dormitories of VMU during the academic year 2021/2022 or just Autumn semester. Please note, that this application is open only for new (first year) incoming full-time, Erasmus+, Bilateral or other international exchange students of Vytautas Magnus university. Other, higher year students, who are currently not living in the dormitories of VMU, would be allowed to reserve one of the rooms for new academic year only starting from August 2nd, 2021.
Note, that application is open only for students, who have already signed their Learning Agreements(Erasmus+ or Bilateral exchange students) and Agreements of Study (full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students) (for more information about signing it, please contact International Cooperation department)
In order to reserve place of residence in one of the dormitories of VMU, all new incoming first-year international students must follow this procedure:
All new incoming first-year international students
- learn about our dormitories, its’ location, price for accommodation services, living conditions, etc. (Dormitories)
- login to the online accommodation system (Accommodation for others) with your personal credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places from the list of available rooms via Accommodation in Student Rooms (Number of places in the dormitories is limited but the list is being constantly updated, therefore it is recommended to check it regularly)
- receive an e-mail about confirmation of your reservation. This e-mail means, that room of your choice will be reserved for you until 31st of August, 2021
- receive our second e-mail with instructions on how to sign your online Agreement for Accommodation, sign it, and be allowed to move-in into the dormitory starting from August 16th until August 31st (if you are planning to move-in after the 31st of August, 2021, you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt and informing about your intended date of arrival. In all cases you will have to pay accommodation fees starting from 1st of September, 2021), otherwise your room reservation will be cancelled.

Parking lots marking works
We want to inform you that parking lots marking works will be performed on June 18, 2021, at the Academy (address: Studentų str. 1, Studentų str. 5 and Studentų str. 7) and on June 23, 2021, next to the dormitory No. 2 “Baltija” (address: Vytauto pr. 71). Considering it, we ask that the dormitory residents do not park their cars in the following parking lots that will be maintained on the specified days, during the working hours.

Guests in the dormitory
Dormitory residents are allowed to receive guests at their place of residence during the day, as specified in the internal rules of dormitories, and to provide them with accommodation in accordance with the procedure specified by VMU, provided that they do not require self-isolation.

Options for self-isolation in the dormitory
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the dormitory, all students who have been diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) or have come into contact with such people and live in the dormitory must immediately contact dormitory’s administrator and Student Centre by an email studentas@vdu.lt and be isolated in accordance with the procedures specified by the dormitory’s administration (in case of failure to comply with this order, University keeps the right to impose disciplinary penalties and notify law enforcement authorities).
Please be informed that in order to ensure safety of other residents and employees of the dormitory, during the period of isolation you cannot leave the room (cannot use shared premises, such as hallways, kitchens, smoking rooms; etc).
