New COVID-19 Requirements and Recommendations in the Dormitories of VMU
In order to ensure the safety of the dormitory’s residents and staff members, for prevention and control of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University, residents of the dormitories are asked to pay close attention and follow requirements and recommendations that are set out below.
FOR STUDENTS ARRIVING FROM ABROAD
- From March 31, 2022, persons arriving in Lithuania from any country are not required to complete a passenger questionnaire.
- No travel-related restrictions on COVID-19 disease management apply to travellers from European Economic Area (EEA) countries (EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the Swiss Confederation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Principality of Andorra, the Principality of Monaco, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See (Vatican City State).
- Current requirements for travellers from third countries are the following:
- Those who are allowed to enter Lithuania but have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 with vaccines recognised in Lithuania or more than 270 days have passed from full vaccination under the vaccination schedule (270 days’ limit does not apply to individuals under 18 years of age) but they have not been vaccinated with a booster shot, those who have not had the disease within the period of 180 days will be subject to COVID-19 PCR testing requirement. PCR test for COVID-19 must be taken within 72 hours before entry to Lithuania with a negative result thereof. A document evidencing negative testing must be presented to the carrier before the trip.
- It is recommended to take a paid PCR test or an antigen test, on the 3rd day of arrival in Lithuania at the latest, at a medical facility or laboratory of their own choice (including the recovered and vaccinated persons).

PREVENTION MEASURES IN THE DORMITORY
To comply with coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention measures in the dormitory is recommended to:
- wash hands and use a hand sanitiser regularly;
- avoid touching face with hands;
- keep household clean and ventilated;
- cover the mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing;
- avoid direct physical contact and keep a safe distance from others, especially in the kitchen and other common areas;
- wear medical face masks in the public areas of the dormitory;
- keep an eye on your health condition and inform the dormitory management immediately if you feel any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing).
IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE COVID-19
- If you have a fever, are sick, or have any possible symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, chills, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of sense of smell or taste, muscle pain, or headache), please immediately call the COVID-19 hotline: 1808 (ph. +370 (37) 367 963 if calling from foreign phone number) or contact your family doctor, report the circumstances of the illness, and follow medical advice. Please do not go to the hospital or your doctor by yourself.
- Please contact the dormitory’s administrator and inform them about the circumstances. please do not go to the Administrator by yourself in order to avoid the possible spread of the virus.
- Avoid any contact. Do not enter common areas of the dormitory (reading rooms, leisure spaces, kitchen, etc.) or welcome guests, or visit others during the whole period of self-isolation. Follow directions and information provided by the Administration of the Dormitory.
- Register for (PCR) testing for COVID-19 and isolate until you receive your results and directions for the next steps:
- If your test result is NEGATIVE, you may return to regular activities and may complete your self-isolation.
- If your test result is POSITIVE, please isolate and follow instructions of the National Public Health Center under the Ministry of Health as it is stated HERE.
If your COVID-19 is mild, you should no longer self-isolate after 10 days from the onset of symptoms if you have had no fever for not less than 3 days without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 have subsided.
Students with asymptomatic COVID-19, should no longer self-isolate after 5 (five) days from the day of collection of the swab which tested positive by PCR.
An asymptomatic COVID case means that an infected person has no symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness, headache, muscle ache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or the loss of sense of smell or taste.
