All VMU students can choose vacant rooms in dormitories from August 26th

We would like to kindly inform you that starting from August 26th until the end of May 2025, all students of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) who wish to stay in the dormitories located in Kaunas, Akademija (Kaunas district), or Vilnius can reserve a residence, both in their first year of study and in subsequent years.

FOR ALL VMU STUDENTS

To have accommodation at the dormitories of VMU, students shall reserve it from the List of Vacant Rooms by following the steps provided below:

log in to the online accommodation system (Accommodation for others) with your personal credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places from the provided list on Accommodation in Student Rooms if you are from the countries, that Lithuanian government requires TO have VISA or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) submitting (attaching) one of these official documents:
- Decision to issue Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)
- Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)
- Decision to issue VISA
- VISA, if you are from the countries, that Lithuanian government do not requires to have VISA or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) you don’t need to submitting (attaching) any documents.

IMPORTANT: Number of resident places in the dormitories is VERY LIMITED, however, the list is constantly updated, therefore it is recommended to check it regularly. In case you do not find the residence on time, you can explore private housing possibilities here.

IMPORTANT: If you are from a country that the Lithuanian government requires to have a VISA or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) and you did not submit (attach) the required documents (see above) during the reservation process, your reserved place in the dormitory will be cancelled.

receive the 1^stemail which is sent to your VMU mailbox with the information, if your room reservation in the dormitory of Vytautas Magnus University was confirmed or declined (university keeps a right to decline any reservation);
receive the 2^ndemail about the possibility of concluding the Accommodation Contract and sign the Accommodation Contract within 3 working days from the receipt of the email by logging in via http://apgyvendinimas.vdu.lt and move in to the selected accommodation (check-in procedure).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR NEW VMU STUDENTS FROM UKRAINE

New VMU students from Ukraine who have refugee status in Lithuania, can reserve special resident places in VMU dormitories which will have a discount on the accommodation fee (the number of these resident places IS VERY LIMITED).

IMPORTANT: These places will be provided only for Ukrainian refugees.

New VMU students from Ukraine, who have refugee status in Lithuania, should look for a tariff (price) with additional abbreviation UKR when they log in to the online accommodation system (Accommodation for others) and submitting (attaching) a document which proofs they have refugees’ status in Lithuania. If this document is not submitted (attached) via reservation process, the reserved place in the dormitory will be cancelled.

FOR STUDENTS OF OTHER UNIVERSITIES

IMPORTANT: a one-time moving-in fee of 10 EUR is paid both in the case of moving into a dormitory and changing rooms.

Dormitory No. 5 will partially be without water and sewerage from August 23 to 30

Please be informed that due to repair works from August 23 to 30, water and the sewerage system will be unavailable in parts of VMU Dormitory No. 5 (located at Universiteto g. 8, Akademija, Kaunas district) as the sewerage pipes are being replaced.

We kindly ask residents to be understanding and allow those whose sewerage is not working and who have no water to use their bathroom.

The water supply and sewerage will be switched off in phases; for example, one day there will be no water in one room, and the next day in another.

The most important dates and terms of accommodation of 2024/2025 academic year

We would like to inform you about the most important dates and terms for the accommodation of our international students in the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University during the Autumn semester of the 2024/2025 academic year:

Until 2024.08.25	Free reservations made by new international students are kept until this date. If the student does not arrive and move into the dormitory by this date – the reservation will be cancelled.	–

Until 2024.05.31	Room changes and new reservations are allowed by choosing rooms from the list of available places on Student Portal studentas.vdu.lt	–
By 2024.06.16	Students (not in their final year) with no disciplinary sanctions who want to live in the dormitory for the summer and / or for the next academic year, must fill the form.	If you want to stay in the dormitory for the summer and / or the next academic year, please fill in the FORM (the form will be active from 05.20 to 06.16). Students will be informed of the decision by an email personally.
By 2024.06.30	Persons, whose Agreements for Accommodation are valid only until June 30, 2024, and whose Agreements will no longer be renewed (persons who have been imposed disciplinary sanctions; etc.) must move out of the dormitories of VMU.	Students, whose Agreements for Accommodation will not be extended, will be personally informed about that by an email, sent to their VMU and (or) another mailbox.
By 2024.07.31	Persons whose Agreements for Accommodation have been extended only for the summer period must move out of the VMU dormitories.	–
Until 2024.07.31	VMU students graduating in 2024 will be allowed to stay in the dormitory until no later than July 31, 2024.	If you want to stay in a dormitory after graduating until the end of July, please fill in the FORM (the form will be active from 05.20 to 06.16). Students will be informed of the decision by an email personally.
From 2024.08.26	List of remaining vacant rooms will be published for all VMU students.	–
	Accommodation for students of OTHER UNIVERSITIES
2024/2025 academic year	VMU will not provide accommodation for students from OTHER higher education institutions during the 2024/2025 academic year.	–

The Student Affairs Department reserves the right to change the dates indicated. Changes will be notified in advance.

The dates indicated in the table are subject to change for some students and other persons living in the halls of residence in case of circumstances that may lead to renovation works in individual halls of residence (floors), etc. Such changes will be communicated to those living in the halls of residence personally in advance by email.

Water problems in the Academy’s dormitories

AB “Kauno energija” Noreikiškės boiler house is temporarily suspending the centralized hot water supply to dormitories and other buildings from 9:00 a.m. on 19 August 2024 until 3:00 p.m. on 23 August 2024 due to hydraulic testing of pipelines and planned repairs.

Additionally, residents of Dormitory 5 are informed that water will not be supplied to this dormitory on 19 August 2024 due to ongoing works.

Possible disruptions in water supply at August 13-14, 2024

Due to repair work being carried out in Dormitory No. 5 located at Universiteto St. 8 in the Academy, Kaunas district, there may be temporary water supply interruptions during the daytime on August 13-14, 2024. We apologize for the inconvenience.

UPDATED: Application for Accommodation for New International Students of 2024/2025

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) has opened an application for new incoming international students for accommodation in the dormitories of VMU during the academic year 2024/2025 or just the Autumn semester. Please note, that this application is open only for new (first year) incoming full-time, Erasmus+, Bilateral or other international exchange students of Vytautas Magnus University. Other, higher year students, who are currently not living in the dormitories of VMU, would be allowed to reserve one of the rooms for the new academic year only starting from August 26^th, 2024.

IMPORTANT: Number of resident places in VMU dormitories is VERY LIMITED.

IMPORTANT:    the application is open only for international exchange students (Erasmus+ and Bilateral Exchange Students), who have been already accepted for their exchange studies at VMU also for international full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s students, who have been accepted for studies in academic year 2024/2025, have signed Agreement of Studies and have got official confirmation, that they will have issued (if needed) visa or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP).

In order to reserve a place of residence in one of the dormitories of VMU, all new incoming first-year international students must follow this procedure:

NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF VMU

find out about VMU dormitories, (No. 2 „Baltija“ – located in Kaunas, No. 5 – located in Academija, Kaunas dstr. and No. 6 „Vivulskis“ – located in Vilnius), price for accommodation services, living conditions, etc.;
log in to the online accommodation system (Accommodation for others) with your personal credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places from the provided list on Accommodation in Student Rooms if you are from the countries, that Lithuanian government requires TO have VISA or Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) submitting (attaching) one of these official documents:

receive a second e-mail  till the middle of the August with instructions on how to sign your electronic Agreement for Accommodation, sign it, and move into the dormitory no later than by  31^st of August, 2024 (if you are planning to move-in after the 31^stof August, 2024, you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt and inform about your concrete date of arrival. In all cases you will have to pay accommodation fees starting from 1^stof September, 2024, otherwise your room reservation will be cancelled).

IMPORTANT: please note, that Residents will be allowed to move into their reserved rooms only starting from August 19^th, 2024.

FOR NEW STUDENTS OF VMU FROM UKRAINE

New VMU students from Ukraine, who has refugees’ status in Lithuania, can reserve special resident places in VMU dormitories which will have discount on accommodation fee (the place of these resident places IS VERY LIMITED).

IMPORTANT: These places will be provided only for Ukrainians refugees.

FOR NON-VMU STUDENTS

Other, non-VMU, students will be able to apply for accommodation in the dormitories of VMU No. 6 „Vivulskis“ – located in Vilnius only starting from October 1^st, 2024 (There is no possibilities to be accommodated in dormitories No. 2 „Baltija“ – located in Kaunas, No. 5 – located in Academija, Kaunas dstr.).  Follow the information in  http://accommodation.vdu.lt „News“ section.

Due renovation in dormitory No. 5

Vytautas Magnus University have launched dormitory No. 5 (address Universiteteto g. 8 Academy, Kaunas district) renovation work in the ground floor of the dormitory in order to improve the current living conditions of students, because of that:

Residents, who are wishing to access other floors will need to use an auxiliary staircase;
during the renovation, the elevator in this dormitory will run only between the II-V floor;
in the other place in ground floor is alocated centralized administration of the dormitories in the Academy.

During the renovation might by available temporary electricity, water and others supply interruptions, may happens working noise caused.

IMPORTANT: For owners of bicycles stored in VMU dormitory No. 5

Due to the repair work started on the 1^st floor of VMU Dormitory No. 5 (located at Universiteto St. 8, Akademija, Kaunas district), we ask that owners who keep bicycles there pick them up by July 7, 2024. If bicycles are not picked up on time, they will be moved to another location, for which the dormitory administration is not responsible for their safety.

The deadline for concluding extended accommodation agreements is 07.05.2024

Students and graduates of the 2023/2024 school year who are currently living in VMU dormitories and with whom Vytautas Magnus University has extended accommodation agreements until the 31^st of July 2024 (graduates of the 2023/2024 school year) or until the 30^th of June 2025, must sign the formed accommodation agreement by the 5^th of July 2024 (inclusive) by connecting to https://epasirasymas.vdu.lt/ using the login provided by VMU. If the accommodation agreement is not concluded in time, the allocated place of residence will be canceled.
