Conditions and Regulations for Students Arriving to the Dormitory (information updated 16.08.2021)
In order to ensure safety of the dormitory’s residents and staff members, for prevention and control of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University, residents of the dormitories and students who are planning to move into them are asked to pay close attention and follow rules set out below.
Higher-year students who are residents in one of the dormitories of VMU and who are planning their return to the dormitory, will be required to cover the costs of their self-isolation, testing for COVID-19 (if required), their meals, and other personal expenses by themselves. Self-isolation can be carried out only in specially designed rooms (except cases when a resident is living in a single bedroom with a separate bathroom).
All residents, who have already left Lithuania or are planning to travel for a short period, and intend to return to the dormitory must fill-out this form. This information is required in order to contribute to pandemic management and comply with all COVID-19 prevention requirements.
MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE TRAVELLING TO LITHUANIA
- COVID-19 testing is required from any arrival from any country of the world, with certain exemptions for those who have recovered of COVID-19 disease or have been fully vaccinated.
- A PCR test for COVID-19 must be taken within 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania, an antigen test must be taken within 48 hours before the entry. A negative test result will have to be shown to the carrier before boarding a plane, bus, ferry, etc.
- Arrivals from the green area will not be required to self-isolate, nor is self-isolation required from the arrivals from the orange (yellow) area, but they are required instead to take a second test on the 3-5th day of arrival in Lithuania. A test can be taken at a mobile point by registering on the website of the Hotline at www.1808.ltor short number 1808. Testing will not be required from those who have recovered of COVID-19 disease or have been fully vaccinated.
- Requirements for arrivals from the red area remain the same: a mandatory test taken prior to the entry to Lithuania and 10-day self-isolation.
- There is a possibility of shortening the self-isolation by taking a PCR test on the 7th day of self-isolation at the earliest, with a negative response thereof. Until now, such test had to be taken at the expense of the resident himself, but from Monday, it will be possible to do so free of charge at a mobile point. You will have to register on the website of the Hotline at www.1808.ltor at short number 1808.
- Passengers FROM ALL THE COUNTRIES (listed or not listed as affected) travelling on international routes organized and operated by carriers as regular, special and charter services by all modes of transport must complete a QUESTIONNAIRE 48 hours before the arrival and present the confirmation of the completed electronic form (QR code) to the carrier before boarding the vehicle.
- Those arriving in Lithuania from ALL COUNTRIES by their own transport until the moment of crossing the border of the Republic of Lithuania must fill in the QUESTIONNAIRE 48 hours before the arrival and provide confirmation of the completed electronic questionnaire (QR code) to NVSC specialists or other officials at the border checkpoint or passenger checkpoint.

MOVING INTO THE DORMITORY AND PAYMENT
MOVING INTO DORMITORY
When moving into dormitories No. 5, Universiteto g. 8, Kaunas district, Akademija, No. 2, “Baltija” (Vytauto pr. 71) and No. 6, located in Vilnius (A. Vivulskio g. 36), you will need to come directly to the dormitory, where the administrators will provide you with the room keys, dormitory access card and all the necessary information.
It is not necessary to move in within 3 working days, as the student’s residence is secure until 31 August. Students can only move into the dormitory after concluding their accommodation contract electronically.

PAYMENT
The accommodation fee starts from the date of move-in, and all accommodation-related fees (including the move-in fee) are payable from September onwards via the student portal, so there are no fees to pay at the time of move-in.
FOR NEW STUDENTS, MOVING INTO THE DORMITORIES FOR THE FIRST TIME
We kindly ask our students, who are moving into the dormitory for the first time, to be reasonable and socially responsible:
Before your departure to Lithuania:
- Send your travel tickets by the e-mail arrival@vdu.lt and fill-out the online arrival registration form at least one week before the arrival; and register at National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health by filling in an electronic form on https://keleiviams.nvsc.lt/en/form (not earlier than 48 hours before your arrival to Lithuania);
- Follow instructions of administrative staff members of Vytautas Magnus University;
Upon your arrival (moving), at the dormitory’s Administration you shall:
- when entering the building use the hand sanitizer at the entrance;
- check your body temperature;
- sincerely answer questions of the Administrator of Dormitory. Monitor the list of countries effected by coronavirus (COVID-19) regularly and inform dormitory’s administration immediately if you are returning from one them;
- present EU Digital Covid Certificate or other proof that you have been fully vaccinated with one of the COVID-19 vaccines (COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen, Comirnaty, COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna, and Vaxzevria), medical document which confirms that maximum 180 days have passed of the positive COVID-19 testing until arrival to the Republic of Lithuania. Otherwise, be prepared to self-isolate for 10 days.
- Isolate yourself in the dormitory room allocated by Vytautas Magnus University and follow mandatory conditions of self-isolation.
- follow recommendations for COVID-19 prevention in the dormitories of VMU (if you do not need to isolate yourself).
INFORMATION ON SELF-ISOLATION
- A 10-days self-isolation shall be performed in specially designed guest rooms (except cases when a resident is living in a single bedroom with a separate bathroom).
- Students who are travelling to Lithuania from the COVID-19 affected countries and are obliged to self-isolate, have to book a guest room on Student Self-service Portal http://studentas.vdu.lt> Dormitories > Accommodation in Guest Rooms, before their intended return (note, that number of rooms is limited and reservation shall be made as early as possible). Accommodation fees is calculated according to the type of room and a full list of room prices is available here (you need to check the prices for VMU students – Short Term Accommodation). If a student is reserving a not a single-bed room, the fee is calculated for an entire room (two places) with an exception if it is shared with another person, who is also returning from abroad.
NOTE: In case of a situation that there are not enough places for self-isolation in VMU dormitories, students may choose to perform their self-isolation in hotels or other private companies or institutions, that provide accommodation services.
- While travelling from the Airport to the dormitory, please use the Bolt app (taxi – protect) services (expenses shall by paid by the resident). Please note that you cannot use public transportation.

- While checking-in into the dormitory, it is necessary:
- to wear a nose and mouth covering mask in public, including when entering the dormitory;
- use hand sanitizer at the entrance;
- allow your body temperature to be checked;
- sincerely answer questions of the Dormitory’s administrator;
- follow the recommendations for the prevention of coronavirus (COVID-19).
- If you have a fever, are sick, or have any possible symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of sense of smell or taste, muscle pain, or headache), please immediately contact dormitory’s administrator.

- IMPORTANT: if you have done a COVID-19 test and received positive results, please immediately inform your Dormitory’s administrator and email Student Centre (studentas@vdu.lt).

PREVENTION MEASURES IN THE DORMITORY
It is recommended that students, who are currently living in the dormitory: do not gather in the dormitory; not organize activities or gatherings in rooms or in the common areas of the dormitory, such as kitchens, smoking rooms, reading rooms, etc. Meetings with friends are recommended in open spaces.

GUESTS IN THE DORMITORY
Residents of the dormitory are allowed to invite guests to their place of residence during the day, as specified in the internal rules of dormitories.

Application for accommodation for current VMU students, who are not living in the dormitory
Vytautas Magnus University has opened an application for accommodation for current VMU international students who are currently not living in the dormitories but intend to be accommodated in the dormitories during the academic year 2021/2022 or just Autumn semester. Please note, that application for accommodation for new (first year) incoming full-time, Erasmus+, Bilateral or other international exchange students is still open (more information about that you can find here).
In order to reserve place of residence in one of the dormitories of VMU, all current international students, who are currently not living in the dormitory must follow this procedure:
- learn about our dormitories, its’ location, price for accommodation services, living conditions, etc. (Dormitories);
- login to the online accommodation system (VMU Students accommodation) with your personal VMU credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places for residence from the provided list on Dormitories / Accommodation in Student Rooms(number of places in the dormitories is limited but the list is being constantly updated, therefore it is recommended to check it regularly). Information about resident place, which your reserved, you will get in your e-mail.
- receive second an e-mail about reservation confirmation. This e-mail means, that room of your choice will be reserved for you until 31st of August, 2021;
- receive our third e-mail with instructions on how to sign your online Agreement for Accommodation, sign it, and be allowed to move-in into the dormitory until August 31st (if you are planning to move-in after the 31stof August, 2021, you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.ltand informing about your intended date of arrival. In all cases you will have to pay accommodation fees starting from 1stof September, 2021), otherwise your room reservation will be cancelled.
Other, non-VMU, students could apply for housing in the dormitories of VMU:
- in dormitories, which are located in Kaunas (No. 2) and Akademija (No. 5), Kaunas dstr. – only starting from September 1st, 2021;
- in dormitory, which located in Vilnius (No. 6), all non-VMU students, could apply starting from August 2nd, 2021 by choosing preferred type of room from the list (Accommodation fees) and contact with Student Centre by an e-mail studentas@vdu.lt and specify:
- Your chosen type of room (e.g. Single-bed room – 6 EUR/day) or several by listing it in a priority manner (e.g. Single-bed room – 6 EUR/day; Single-bed room in a block of rooms – 5 EUR/day, etc.);
- Your full name, surname, passport no., personal email address;
- Present (attach to an e-mail) document of Lithuanian higher education institution in which you are (going to by) study, that proves your student status.

If we can allow to accommodate you, we will send instructions on how to sign your online Agreement for Accommodation. After you will sign it, you will be allowed to move-in into dormitory until August 31st (if you are planning to move-in after the 31st of August, 2021, you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt and inform about your intended date of arrival. In all cases you will have to pay accommodation fees starting from 1st of September, 2021), otherwise your room reservation will be cancelled.

Application for Accommodation for New Incoming Students of 2021/2022
Vytautas Magnus University has opened an application for new incoming international students for accommodation in the dormitories of VMU during the academic year 2021/2022 or just Autumn semester. Please note, that this application is open only for new (first year) incoming full-time, Erasmus+, Bilateral or other international exchange students of Vytautas Magnus university. Other, higher year students, who are currently not living in the dormitories of VMU, would be allowed to reserve one of the rooms for new academic year only starting from August 2nd, 2021.
Note, that application is open only for students, who have already signed their Learning Agreements(Erasmus+ or Bilateral exchange students) and Agreements of Study (full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students) (for more information about signing it, please contact International Cooperation department)
In order to reserve place of residence in one of the dormitories of VMU, all new incoming first-year international students must follow this procedure:

- learn about our dormitories, its’ location, price for accommodation services, living conditions, etc. (Dormitories)
- login to the online accommodation system (Accommodation for others) with your personal credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places from the list of available rooms via Accommodation in Student Rooms (Number of places in the dormitories is limited but the list is being constantly updated, therefore it is recommended to check it regularly)
- receive an e-mail about confirmation of your reservation. This e-mail means, that room of your choice will be reserved for you until 31st of August, 2021
- receive our second e-mail with instructions on how to sign your online Agreement for Accommodation, sign it, and be allowed to move-in into the dormitory starting from August 16th until August 31st (if you are planning to move-in after the 31st of August, 2021, you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt and informing about your intended date of arrival. Parking lots marking works
We want to inform you that parking lots marking works will be performed on June 18, 2021, at the Academy (address: Studentų str. 1, Studentų str. 5 and Studentų str. 7) and on June 23, 2021, next to the dormitory No. 2 “Baltija” (address: Vytauto pr. 71). Considering it, we ask that the dormitory residents do not park their cars in the following parking lots that will be maintained on the specified days, during the working hours.

It is recommended that students, who are currently living in the dormitory: do not gather in the dormitory; not organize activities or gatherings in rooms or in the common areas of the dormitory, such as kitchens, smoking rooms, reading rooms, etc. Meetings with friends are recommended in open spaces.
It is also recommended that the following preventive measures be continued:
- wash your hands regularly;
- avoid touching the face with hands;
- keep household clean and fresh;
- cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing;
- wear disposable gloves when going to the public places of the dormitory (residents shall purchase it themselves);
- avoid direct physical contact and keep a safe distance from others, especially in dormitory common areas;
- to wear a face mask in common areas (residents shall purchase it themselves);
- monitor your health, after experiencing possible symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing) – inform the dormitory administration immediately.
Guests in the dormitory
Dormitory residents are allowed to receive guests at their place of residence during the day, as specified in the internal rules of dormitories, and to provide them with accommodation in accordance with the procedure specified by VMU, provided that they do not require self-isolation.

Options for self-isolation in the dormitory
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the dormitory, all students who have been diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) or have come into contact with such people and live in the dormitory must immediately contact dormitory’s administrator and Student Centre by an email studentas@vdu.lt and be isolated in accordance with the procedures specified by the dormitory’s administration (in case of failure to comply with this order, University keeps the right to impose disciplinary penalties and notify law enforcement authorities).
Please be informed that in order to ensure safety of other residents and employees of the dormitory, during the period of isolation you cannot leave the room (cannot use shared premises, such as hallways, kitchens, smoking rooms; etc).

Information on end dates and conditions for free-of-charge room reservations, granted during the period of remote studies
In response to the increasingly complicated epidemiological situation in Lithuania due to the risks of COVID-19, Government of the Republic of Lithuania announced nationwide quarantine and University has made decision to organise studies remotely until the end of academic year of 2020-2021. Therefore, since October 30th, 2020 (including), after their departure students were granted a possibility to keep their place of residence reserved free of charge, by following conditions set by the University.
The Spring semester of 2020-2021 ends on June 30th, 2021, and at the end of it free-of-charge reservation of places of residence in the dormitories will no longer be granted. Students, who want to keep their rooms reserved after July 1st, 2021, will have to return to the dormitory under the conditions set by the University and pay regular accommodation fees. For students, who has moved-out of the dormitory and will not return to it by June 30th, 2021, those places of residence will no longer be reserved for their return.
Students, who want to return to live in their place of residence, which was kept reserved until June 30th, 2021, and who wishes to keep it reserved after July 1st, 2021, shall register for an extension of Agreement of Accommodation for period of summer or one academic year (until June 30th, 2022, including period of summer 2020).
IMPORTANT: for students, who will return to their reserved place of residence and whose Agreements for Accommodation will be extended, fees for accommodation will be calculated from the date of check-in, but no later than from July 1st, 2021 (move-in fee will not be charged).
Students, who will be returning to their reserved places of residence and who will need to self-isolate upon their return to Lithuania, should send copies of their travel tickets and confirmed arriving date to studentas@vdu.lt at least one week before their arrival to Lithuania. VMU Student Centre will contact each student personally regarding their self-isolation, in accordance with the regulations of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. Starting from June 1st, 2021, students, who will be returning to their reserved places of residence, will only need to pay regular fees for a reserved room during the period of self-isolation.
Students, who by June 30th, 2021, do not intend to return to live in the rooms that were kept reserved for them free-of charge, from July 1st, 2021, will lose a right to return to it. However, these students will be able to reserve a new place of residence in the dormitory from August 2nd, 2021. Special conditions and regulations for students returning to the dormitory after their exchange period abroad (applicable from 2021.05.24)
Students, who are returning to Lithuania after completing their exchange period abroad and who wishes to live in one of the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University may reserve a place of residence by:
- logging to the online accommodation system (accommodation.vdu.lt „VMU Students accommodation“) with your personal credentials (username and password) and reserve one of the places from the provided list on Accommodation in Student Rooms (Number of places in the dormitories is limited, however, the list is constantly updated, therefore it is recommended to check it regularly).
- receiving an e-mail of VMU with a confirmation of your reservation.
- receiving a second e-mail from VMU with instructions on how to sign your online Agreement for Accommodation, sign it, and move into the dormitory within three (3) working days (if you are planning to move-in after three (3) working days you shall contact Student Centre by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt and inform about your intended date of arrival. In all cases you will have to pay accommodation fees starting from third day of reservation), otherwise your room reservation will be cancelled.
- If you want to cancel reservation please get in contact with Student Centre (see contacts below).
- Completing the online Arrival Registration Form and sending your travel tickets to arrival@vdu.lt at least one week before your arrival to Lithuania. After completing an online registration VMU International Cooperation Department will contact each student regarding their self-isolation, in accordance with the regulations of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. - taking the coronavirus test. A PCR test for COVID-19 must be taken within 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania, an antigen test must be taken within 48 hours before the entry;

For students, who starting from 2021.05.24 will reserve a room and will follow this procedure, will only need to pay regular fees for a reserved room.

Registration for the Extension of the Agreement of Accommodation
Students who are currently living in the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus university in Kaunas, Akademija (Kaunas District) or Vilnius, and have concluded Agreements of Accommodation, that are valid only until June 30th, 2021, must apply for an extension of accommodation by filling this form and it has to be done no later than by June 30th, 2021.
VMU students who are completing their studies in June 2021, do not need to fill out this form.
VMU graduates (students, who graduating in the Spring semester of 2020/2021) can apply for an extension of the Agreement of Accommodation only after the end of the summer period. In order to be allowed to continue living in the dormitory during summer (from July 1st until August 16th, 2021), students must register for accommodation by filling out a separate survey. VMU students may apply for an extension of the Agreement of Accommodation, depending on the dormitory, and by taking into consideration if they have not been imposed disciplinary penalties:
- VMU dormitory No. 2, Vytauto str. 71, Kaunas. The Agreement of Accommodation can be extended for 1 year period (until 2022.06.30)
- VMU dormitory No. 5, Universiteto str. 8, Akademija (Kaunas District). The Agreement of Accommodation can be extended for 1 year period (until 2022.06.30)
- VMU dormitory No. 6, Vivulskio str. 36, Vilnius. The Agreement of Accommodation can be extended for 1 year period (until 2022.06.30)
Students of other higher education institutions (non-VMU) may apply for an extension of their Agreement of Accommodation for 1 year period (until 2022.06.30) only in VMU dormitory No. 6 (A. Vivulskio str. 36, Vilnius), and only if they have not been imposed disciplinary penalties. Agreements of Accommodation, for non-VMU students, who are currently living in other dormitories, may be extended only for the summer period (from July 1st until August 16th, 2021) with the possibility of later application for an extension for one another year. Registration for accommodation during summer (from 2021.07.01 to 2021.08.16) has started
Students who are currently living in the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus university in Kaunas, Akademija (Kaunas District) or Vilnius and have concluded an Agreement of Accommodation, which are valid until June 30, 2021, or are completing their studies in the Spring semester of 2020-2021, and who wishes to continue living in VMU dormitories during the summer (period from July 1st to August 16th) must register for accommodation no later than by June 30th, 2021, by filling out this survey.
Students who currently do not live in the dormitories of VMU, but wish to live in it during the summer period (from 2021.07.01 to 2021.08.16), must apply for accommodation by sending an e-mail to studentas@vdu.lt no later than by June 30th, 2021, and obtain Department’s approval.
Students who wish to live in the dormitory for one year after their graduation, as well as students of other (non-VMU) higher education institutions, at first must extend their Agreement of Accommodation for the summer period (from 2021.07.01 to 2021.08.16) and later, from August 1st to 8th, 2021, must contact SAD by e-mail: studentas@vdu.lt regarding the possibility of extension for the period until June 30th, 2022.
EXCEPTIONS applies only to the residents of VMU dormitory No. 6 (A. Vivulskio str. 36, Vilnius), who can choose to extend their Agreements of Accommodation for the summer period or 1 year after graduation (more information on the extension of the Agreement of Accommodation for 1 year can be found here).

In academic year of 2021/2022 accommodation fees will not change
The Rector of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) has approved fees for accommodation, which will be applicable to those who will be living in the student rooms of the University dormitories. Like every year, this decision will come into force from July 1st, 2021, and will remain valid until June 30rd, 2022. Accommodation prices, depending on room types, in comparison to those, that were applied during the academic year of 2020/2021, will not change.
