VMU dormitory No. 5, Akademija

VMU dormitory No. 5 is located at Universiteto g. 8, Akademija, Kaunas district. Dormitory is situated in the campus of VMU Agriculture Academy. From here you can reach academy easily by foot and by public transport you can get to the bus and train stations, Kaunas city center or downtown, from where you can reach other faculties of the University in just 15-20 minutes.

Dormitory No. 5 was renovated in 2007 and is located in a quiet and natural environment, where you will be able to spend your free time in the fresh air or to be engaged in sports and wellness activities. Moreover, in case you are interested, there are a lot of parking spaces for your car.

The five-storey dormitory has a structure of different type of rooms (see below):

Single-bed room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) (renovated)
Two-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for two residents) (renovated or not renovated)
Three-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for three residents)
Single-bed room in a block of rooms (it includes single-bed room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of another room) (renovated or not renovated)
Two-beds room in a block of rooms (it includes two-beds room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of another room) (renovated or not renovated)

In each room there are a free broadband internet connection, table, bed, fridge, wardrobe and chairs.

Accommodation Fees

VMU accommodation fees has to be paid for a current month, before 15 (fifteenth) calendar day of each month. Fee is calculated according to the type of a room, by using Student Self-Service portal http://studentas.vdu.lt. Since July 1^st, 2024 prices per month, for VMU students, are following:

Single-bed room (renovated) – 7 €/day per person
Single-bed room in a block of rooms (renovated) – 6 €/day per person
Single-bed room in a block of rooms (not renovated) – 5 €/day per person
Two-beds room (renovated) – 5,5 €/day per person
Two-beds room (not renovated) – 4,5 €/day per person
Two-beds rooms in a block of rooms (renovated) – 4,5 €/day per person
Two-beds room in a block of rooms (not renovated) – 3,5 €/day per person
Three-beds room – 5 €/day per person

For non-VMU students, prices are +1 €/day higher, compared to VMU students.

This price includes all additional charges, that are related to dormitory exploitation.

IMPORTANT: there is a charge of 10 € for residents who moving into a dormitory or changing rooms.

Residents of the dormitory are welcomed to use self-service laundry/drying services:

Washing – from 3 € (10 kg)
Drying – 1,5 € (10 kg)

Important information

Before moving into the dormitory resident should bring oneself:

beddings (pillow, blanket) and bedsheets covers. If needed, beddings can be provided during check-in procedure. There is an additional 35 € charge for it;
kitchen utensils (cup, plate, cutlery, pot, pan, kettle, etc.);
refrigerator is in the dormitory;
other personal belongings and inventory.

There is wired internet in the dormitory.

There is no air conditioning in the dormitory rooms and the dormitory is centrally heated (not regulated).

Common areas in the dormitory

Kitchens: There are four communal kitchens on each floor (one on the 1st and 5th floors and three on the 2nd floor).

Toilets and Showers: The double and triple rooms have private bathrooms, and each block of rooms (consisting of two rooms) also has a private bathroom.

Reading Room – 2nd floor
Table Tennis Area – 3rd floor
Recreation Area – 4th floor
Meditation Room – 5th floor

Laundry and Drying Room: 2nd floor

Bicycle Parking: Bicycles can be left in the 1st-floor lobby of the dormitory.

Parking: There is a public car park next to the dormitory (free of charge).

Reaching the dormitory

Closest bus stops, to get from dormitory to the city center are: „Universiteto centriniai rūmai” (Studentų g.) or „Universiteto Bendrabučiai” (Universiteto g.);

From the dormitory to the downtown (bus stop „Vilniaus gatvė“), about 15 minutes drive;

From the dormitory to the city center (bus stop „Studentų skveras“), about 20 minutes drive;

From the dormitory to the train station (bus stop „Geležinkelio stotis “), about 25 minutes drive;

Busses from the Academy to the city drive every half an hour
