Reaching VMU dormitory
Reaching Vilnius bus / train station from the Airport
Vilnius airport is located 6 km from the centre of Vilnius where the train and bus stations can be found. Lithuanian currency is Euro (EUR). If you do not have any money in Euro, you can exchange your money at a currency exchange office at the Airport.
Then you can use one of the options for reaching Vilnius bus or train station (both are next to each other):
- There is a direct train going frequently from Vilnius airport to Vilnius train station. Follow the outside airport directions to reach the train stop. The ticket will cost 1 EUR at the conductor
- You can take city bus No. 1 or No. 2 and go till the bus stop “Stotis”
Public transport tickets in Vilnius. Single-trip ticket cost 1,00 EUR (or 0,50 EUR with ISIC*) at the driver. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the driver does not sell tickets. So, we recommended to buy a Vilnius card at a newsstand, supplement it and use as a ticket or you can use a traffi app and buy tickets through it.
*ISIC card is only valid for students coming from EU countries. Students in order to get discounts and use public transport with must always have their ID cards.
You can take a taxi either by:
- Booking it using www.etaksi.lt/en. Departing from Vilnius Airport and arriving at Vilnius bus station (“Sodų g. 22”) or train station (“Geležinkelio g. 16″) – both near each otheraround 4 km from the Airport
- Using Bolt mobile app
- Or taking the taxi near the airport. At the beginning of the trip we advise you to ask the driver for the price and ask for a receipt

Reaching Kaunas from Vilnius bus / train station
In Vilnius train or bus station (the bus terminal is opposite the train station on the left side) you will have to take train or bus to Kaunas. We advise you to take a bus which goes to Kaunas approximately every half an hour and cost about 5,80 EUR (you can buy a ticket from the driver and ask for the discount if you have ISIC*). Check the bus routes, prices and exact timetables at: www.autobusubilietai.lt. Train departures are not so frequent (tickets are sold at the tickets office in the train station). You can check train routes and timetables at: https://traukiniobilietas.lt/portal/en. For safe traveling we advise you not to use private drivers’ offers.
You can also use Olexx transportation services on the route Vilnius Airport – Kaunas (Circle K gas station, Savanorių ave. 404B). Tickets must be purchased at Vilnius Airport. Their price is about 10 Euros. There are also Olexx night rides, which are convenient for students who arriving late in the evening.

Reaching VMU Dormitory „Baltija“ from Kaunas Airport (Karmėlava)
Kaunas airport is located 15 km from the centre of Kaunas.
If you do not have any money in Euro, you can exchange your money at a currency exchange office of Medicinos bankas at the Arrivals. Working hours are coordinated with the flight schedule.
Then you can use one of the options for reaching VMU dormitory:
- City bus No. 29 G connects Kaunas airport and Kaunas city. You can check the bus route and exact timetables at: https://www.trafi.com/lt/kaunas. Leave the bus at the stop “Kęstučio” and go 50 m. the same street ahead – dormitory is located just on the right of the street.
Public transport tickets in Kaunas. Single-trip ticket cost 1,00 EUR (or 0,50 EUR with ISIC*) at the driver. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the driver does not sell tickets. So, we recommended to buy a Kaunas card at a newsstand, supplement it and use as a ticket or you can use a Žiogas app and buy tickets through it.
- You can take a taxi near the airport. At the beginning of the trip we advise you to ask the driver for the price (may be charged about 17 EUR) and ask for a receipt
- You can order a taxi using Bolt mobile app

Reaching VMU Dormitory „Baltija“ from Kaunas Bus or Train Station
You can reach VMU dormitory No. 2 by taking any trolleybus in the stop “Geležinkelio stotis” or in the stop “Autobusu stotis” (see the map). Take off in the stop “Gedimino g.” and take a walk back. It takes just a few minutes. The address of VMU Dormitory No 2: Vytauto ave. 71.

- Take the taxi near the train or bus station. At the beginning of the trip we advise you to ask the driver for the price (may be charged from 1,45 to 4,35 EUR) and ask for a receipt.
- You can order a taxi using Bolt mobile app.

Reaching Dormitory No. 5 at VMU Agriculture Academy from Kaunas Bus or Train Station
These dormitories are located in Kaunas district (Studentų g. 5, Akademija), which is ~15 minutes away (by public transport) from the city center.
You can use one of the options for reaching these dormitories:
- If you arrived to Kaunas train station: take a bus No. 18 in the stop “Geležinkelio stotis” (near train station). Take off the bus at the stop “Universiteto bendrabučiai”. Dormitories are just 3 minutes away by walking from the bus stop.
- If you arrived to Kaunas bus station: to reach Dormitories from the bus station, you need to take bus No. 18 in the stop called “Autobusų stotis” and take off the bus at the stop “Universiteto bendrabučiai”. Dormitories will be just 3 minutes away by walking from the bus stop.

Reaching Dormitory No. 5 at VMU Agriculture Academy from Kaunas Airport (Karmėlava)
