The most important dates and terms of accommodation of 2024/2025 academic year

We would like to inform you about the most important dates and terms for the accommodation of our international students in the dormitories of Vytautas Magnus University during the Autumn semester of the 2024/2025 academic year:

Dates Accommodation of NEW international students, studying full-time or coming for exchange studies  Notes
From 2024.07.01 From this date all new international students of Vytautas Magnus University will be allowed to book a place of accommodation in VMU dormitories. You will find more detailed information about accommodation procedure on http://accommodation.vdu.lt NEWS at the end of June.
Until 2024.08.25 Free reservations made by new international students are kept until this date. If the student does not arrive and move into the dormitory by this date – the reservation will be cancelled.
Accommodation of SENIOR students  
Until 2024.05.31 Room changes and new reservations are allowed by choosing rooms from the list of available places on Student Portal studentas.vdu.lt
By 2024.06.16 Students (not in their final year) with no disciplinary sanctions who want to live in the dormitory for the summer and / or for the next academic year, must fill the form. If you want to stay in the dormitory for the summer and / or the next academic year, please fill in the form (the form will be active from 05.20 to 06.16). Students will be informed of the decision by an email personally.
By 2024.06.30 Persons, whose Agreements for Accommodation are valid only until June 30, 2024, and whose Agreements will no longer be renewed (persons who have been imposed disciplinary sanctions; etc.) must move out of the dormitories of VMU. Students, whose Agreements for Accommodation will not be extended, will be personally informed about that by an email, sent to their VMU and (or) another mailbox.
By 2024.07.31

Persons whose Agreements for Accommodation have been extended only for the summer period must move out of the VMU dormitories.

Until 2024.07.31

VMU students graduating in 2024 will be allowed to stay in the dormitory until no later than July 31, 2024.

If you want to stay in a dormitory after graduating until the end of July, please fill in the form (the form will be active from 05.20 to 06.16). Students will be informed of the decision by an email personally.
From 2024.08.26 List of remaining vacant rooms will be published for all VMU students.
  Accommodation for students of OTHER UNIVERSITIES  
From 2024.10.01 Announcement of remaining places for all not VMU (other university) students.

The Student Affairs Department reserves the right to change the dates indicated. Changes will be notified in advance.

The dates indicated in the table are subject to change for some students and other persons living in the halls of residence in case of circumstances that may lead to renovation works in individual halls of residence (floors), etc. Such changes will be communicated to those living in the halls of residence personally in advance by email.

It is possible to reserve a living space until May 31st

Please note that VMU students will only be able to book a place in the VMU dormitories for moving in or relocating until May 31st (inclusive). The VMU accommodation system will be blocked from June 1st onwards. Consequently, VMU students will not be able to reserve accommodation when moving in or relocating. The reopening date of the VMU accommodation system will be notified separately.

News in VMU dormitory No. 1

The Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) dormitory No.1 “Taika”, located at Taikos Ave. 119, Kaunas, under the initiative of the Council and its Chairman, Otonas Mykolas Vasilius, is delighting the residents with some small but enjoyable news.

Running out of ideas for what to do on a rainy day or how to spend a fun evening? In the dorm’s Leisure Room, you’ll find classic board games like “Alias” and “Monopolis,” offering opportunities for fun with other dorm residents between lectures or after classes. And don’t forget to express your creative talents or scribble a love letter to another dorm resident on the old chalkboard—crayons are readily available!

In VMU dormitory No. 1 laundry room, you’ll even find two new drying racks, which will expedite the drying of your laundry and consequently reduce queues for services.

Sporty residents of VMU dormitory No. 1 will appreciate the addition of a new fitness trainer and sports equipment in the Sports Room, making it much easier to prioritize your health and well-being!

A Survey of the Quality of Accommodation Services is Being Conducted

We invite you to participate and express your opinion in the university-level “Evaluation of Accommodation Services in Dormitories” survey, launched by the Student Affairs Department (SAD). The purpose of the survey is to find out the opinion of persons living in VMU dormitories about accommodation conditions and provided services.

We kindly invite students who live in VMU dormitories in Kaunas, Akademija (Kaunas District), or Vilnius to participate in this year’s survey and evaluate their opinions and suggestions, which would help to improve the performance and services provided in dormitories. We are hoping for ~10 minutes of your time, that you would dedicate to completing this questionnaire. The link to the survey was sent to all the residents by e-mail to their personal e-mail addresses. We invite you to fill in the survey by May 31, 2023.

On 17–18 April, hot water temperature will be raised in VMU dormitories No. 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10

Please be informed that from 17 April at 10 a.m. to 18 April at 10 a.m., disinfection of the hot water pipelines will be conducted in Vytautas Magnus University dormitories No. 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10 (located at Universiteto st. 6, 8, and Studentų st. 1, 5, 7, Akademija, Kaunas district). The disinfection process will involve raising the water temperature to 66 degrees. Residents of the dormitory are kindly asked to be careful not to spill hot water on themselves.

Easter joys in VMU dormitory No. 2

The students of the VMU dormitory No. 2 recently delighted in an Easter egg hunt quest right on the dormitory premises, complete with exciting prizes awaiting discovery. After the exhilarating hunt, they gathered to savor warm cups of tea accompanied by delicious sweets, fostering a sense of camaraderie and joy.

To cap off the festive occasion, everyone enjoyed a heartwarming screening of the beloved “Peter Rabbit” movie, creating cherished memories together.

Joyful Easter mood fills VMU Dormitory No. 4

Vytautas Magnus University Dormitory No. 4 is already looking forward to Easter! On the initiative of the Dormitory Council and its Chairperson, Milda Štaraitytė, the dormitory community decorated branches and made Easter eggs with paint and decoupage.

The Easter decorations have already put the dormitory in a festive mood and encourage people to get ready for the upcoming beautiful spring festivities.

Chairperson of VMU Dormitory No. 2 Council Elected

On March 14th, the Chairperson of VMU Dormitory No. 2 “Baltija” Council for the academic year 2023/2024 was elected. Yuliia Matiiuk is the new Chairperson. The Council Chairperson is responsible for forming the Dormitory Council, whose main job is to lead and represent the interests of the residents of the dormitory, participate in problem-solving, carry out various activities, and foster and develop the community spirit.
