Donate Items for Incoming VMU Students – Make a Real Difference!

ESN VMU Kaunas invites all VMU students to donate items they no longer need to support incoming exchange and full-time students arriving in August.

This initiative, called “Collection Days,” logically continues the DON@ – Donation Opportunities for Newcomers project, which officially concluded in autumn 2024.

Our main goal is to enhance the integration and living conditions of students with fewer opportunities through mutual support, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Mostapha Alahiane, a Master’s student in Educational Management and active volunteer, shares his thoughts from the farewell party for Erasmus students on May 23:

“One of the highlights of the evening was a special activity linked to the DON@ project. To remind departing students about donating unwanted items in a fun and educational way, we created a simple matching game. Participants had to match Lithuanian words with different kitchen utensils like cups, plates, and spoons. Those who guessed correctly won small prizes, making the activity even more engaging.”

Mostapha added:
“The main goal of the game was to raise awareness about the importance of sharing and reusing. Many Erasmus students leave behind useful items when they finish their exchange. Instead of throwing them away, the DON@ project gives these items a second life by passing them on to new students. Through this game, we wanted to show that even small actions – like donating a pan or a plate – can make a big difference for someone just starting their journey.”

When and where can VMU students bring the items they no longer need?

Table Tennis Tournament at VMU Dormitory No. 4: Sports, Community, and Smiles

At the beginning of May, a table tennis tournament took place at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Dormitory No. 4 (located at Studentų St. 1, Akademija, Kaunas District). The event brought together dormitory residents for an active and fun evening. With exciting matches, cheering spectators, and a friendly atmosphere, the tournament clearly demonstrated how such initiatives help foster a vibrant and engaged dormitory community.

Players were divided into groups, and the intense matches for the top spots were filled not only with competitive spirit but also with lots of laughter and good energy. As the tournament progressed, female residents joined in and competed in a separate women’s league. The event concluded with a symbolic awards ceremony, group photos, and a warm gathering to share impressions.

We extend our thanks to everyone who participated and helped organize the event – such activities strengthen bonds among residents, encourage involvement, and contribute to creating a welcoming living environment.
